About me
Welcome. I am Katy and I run Rushcliffe-Counselling, a confidential counselling and hypnotherapy service for children and adults based in Edwalton, in the heart of Rushcliffe, within easy reach of West Bridgford, Ruddington, Keyworth and Nottingham city centre.
I offer the opportunity to talk about everything that is important to you by listening and supporting your journey. I will be understanding and empathetic of your views and background and together we shall explore ways through any difficulties you are experiencing, working to build your confidence in who you truly are.
I am a qualified Pluralistic counsellor practising CBT, person centred and psychodynamic approaches, and also a qualified hypnotherapist working with adults who would like to try a different approach. I am also trained as a counsellor for the blind and partially sighted. I believe that support and understanding in a kind and empathetic place to explore changes to your life and feelings associated with loss and anxiety are so important during this journey.
I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and have extensive experience working with children, young people and adults in mainstream and alternative provisions. I also work with neurodivergent children and adults. I provide long and short term counselling. I work with anxiety, stress (work, school and homelife), overthinking, social and identity struggles, grief, loss, low confidence, self esteem issues, OCD and managing unhealthy coping strategies.
I believe strongly in the need to work from each client's own perspective. I promise to listen and support each client in their counselling journey. As a Pluralistic counsellor I can adapt different strategies to address individual needs.

Further information
Rushcliffe-Counselling is based in Edwalton, in the heart of Rushcliffe, within easy reach of West Bridgford, Ruddington, Keyworth and Nottingham city centre. My treatment room is also really well served by public transport from West Bridgford, Keyworth or Nottingham City Centre, so anybody looking to get her by bus could use either NCTX or The Keyworth by Trent Barton.
At Rushcliffe-Counselling I have taken great care to create a relaxing and comfortable space . The counselling room is adaptable for all ages and abilities, with appropriate resources and fixtures to help you relax in the sessions. There is easy access along the side of the building with direct access into the therapy room. There is a small and welcoming waiting area for adults accompanying a young person with W/C facilities. The therapy room is based at the rear of my home, creating a less clinical and more welcoming space to help you relax.
Free parking is easily accessible on the road outside and onsite parking can be arranged to accommodate disabilities.
There are many different approaches to counselling and I recognise many of the terms and descriptions can prove confusing, At the heart of my practise is a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. I work from a person centred basis which means you are the most important person in the process and your views, feelings and experiences are all valid.
By using my Pluralistic training I can utilise different therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), collaborative goal setting, psychodynamic strategies and explorative questioning to tailor an approach that best fits your needs.
Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk through what is worrying you and strive for change. I, as the counsellor, am there to listen and provide a space for you to discover what matters in your life
