About me
Hello, I am Katy and I run Rushcliffe-Counselling. I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I work with children and adults. I have a particular interest in working with children and young people up to 25 years. I am also a trained sight loss counsellor. At the heart of my practice is an open and kind space to work through any issues that are worrying you. As a Pluralistic counsellor I focus on collaboration and goal setting. I work with my clients as a partnership to explore and discuss their worries in a kind and empathetic space. I work from a person centred basis and provide a non-judgemental, friendly and safe space to talk.
I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and have extensive experience working with children, young people and adults in mainstream and alternative provisions. I am a trained sight loss counsellor. I also work with neurodivergent children and adults. I provide long and short term counselling. I work with anxiety, stress (work, school and homelife), overthinking, social and identity struggles, grief, loss, low confidence, self esteem issues, OCD and managing unhealthy coping strategies.
I believe strongly in the need to work from each client's own perspective. I promise to listen and support each client in their counselling journey. As a Pluralistic counsellor I can adapt different strategies to address individual needs, including, CBT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic approaches and hypnotherapy.

Additional information
Payment is due before each session. Cancellations need to be no later than 48 hours prior to the session, otherwise the cost of the session will be required in full.

My practice is located in Edwalton with easy access to Nottingham city centre and all the villages and towns surrounding the city. The therapy room is a homely and relaxing space looking out onto gardens. Parking is available on the road outside and additional parking is available on the drive for those with a disability. There is frequent and easy public transport links to within a 5 minute walk of the therapy rooms.
For sight loss clients I can share an audible instruction recording for accessing the room or I am happy to meet and greet at the front of the premises for each session. Guide dogs are welcome in the therapy room. If working online, all forms and documentation can be completed verbally and I am happy to sign on your behalf to provide permissions.
