About me
Anyone of us will experience a challenging time or unexpected life changing event. It takes courage, honesty and commitment to confront whatever is concerning you. You don't have to explore this on your own.
I believe everyone has the potential to find their owns ways of getting through difficult times and painful experiences. By providing a comfortable environment and appropriate support, where we feel safe and accepted for who we are and how we are feeling, creates the conditions to enable a person to be honest, open and willing for self exploration.
I offer a rural setting in a garden lodge placed within natural countryside surroundings near Kenton, Devon. I am an integrative counsellor which means I trained with several different theories and approaches. These approaches can be tailored to your need as we work together.
I work with adults of all ages and young people (year 7 onwards) on a 1:1 basis, face to face, telephone, online zoom and walk and talk. As well as private practice, I have worked in an Exeter and Taunton counselling agency, family assessment service, St Margaret's Hospice, a School Counsellor in private and state secondary education, providing a wide range of valuable experience. I have additional training in loss and bereavement counselling and creative CBT.
I qualified as a Supervisor in 2019. I feel passionate to create a supportive learning environment built upon trust and equality enabling an open honest professional relationship. This is open to qualified counsellors, student counsellors, teachers, support staff NHS workers and other helping professions.
I'm a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by the BACP code of ethics visit (www.bacp.co.uk). I hold a valid DBS disclosure. I value authenticity, autonomy, commitment, humour, trust and the therapeutic relationship.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 14 years experience of counselling. My training as a counsellor began in 2008. I fully qualified as a counsellor therapist in 2011, with an ‘Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling’, at the Iron Mill College, Exeter, a BACP Accredited course.
I qualified as a Supervisor in 2019 after completing the ‘Diploma in Supervision’ at ‘Safe Space for Counselling’. This course is recognised by the NCS (National Counselling Society) and carries the ‘Advanced Specialist Training Status’.
I have worked with adults and young people, in various settings including private practice, various counselling agencies, St Margaret’s Hospice, private and state secondary schools, residential weekends for bereaved children, children’s centres and family assessment service, providing a wide range of valuable experience.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
