About me
Hi, my name is Katie, I am a BACP registered person-centred therapist. The space I provide for my clients is aimed at taking away the initial anxiety, nervousness and uncertainty my clients may have if walking into the therapy room for the first time. I provide a warm, cosy, calm, non-judgemental and welcoming space to put my clients at ease at what can be, for some, an anxious time. I aim to provide a non-judgmental space where all are welcome. I aim to provide an approach that is unique for each person, embracing their individual needs, valuing their uniqueness, their individual belief systems or cultural background and irrespective of your sexual or gender preferences.
Drawing on my own life experience this, alongside my training as a person-centred humanistic BACP registered therapist, I work in an engaging, open, caring and flexible way. I like to explore with curiosity what is going on for you and walk alongside you supportively. There is no rush, I will go at a speed that is right for you, as I know myself how daunting walking into a therapy room can be.
Training, qualifications & experience
My main training is in Person Centred therapy, what a lot of people will know as "talking therapy" I have also been exposed to other therapy methods like CBT and STSBT. During my training, I worked with children, young adults and family members, trying to give them an Oasis of calm in their sometimes chaotic lives. As a single mum, I also went through the challenges that comes with this. In my time, I have worked supporting clients with many areas of life issues both past and present. I have worked with Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, Addiction, Childhood Sexual Abuse, Panic Disorders, Low Self-Esteem and Low Self-Confidence.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I can offer Face to Face sessions in my therapy room in Beckenham or Zoom meetings. I am very flexible with times and days so I can fit in with your requirements.
Before we agree to work together, I will always have a 15 minute Zoom session (no charge) so clients can ask questions, get a "feel" for the process and get a "feel" for me.
It is important that clients are "sure" when choosing their therapist; it’s a big decision, so time needs to be taken when making this choice.
Make a list, ask questions, find out what is on offer for you.
