About me

Hi, I'm Katie - I am a Therapeutic Counsellor based in Gloucestershire, who provides clients with an integrated approach to counselling, using both Psychodynamic and Person-Centred theories.

I am passionate about helping people improve their mental health and well-being, knowing myself how invaluable such support can be during difficult times.

Finding a counsellor can be daunting, especially when life feels overwhelming. At some point, most people will have to face difficult and painful circumstances – and it can be beneficial to seek support to help process those experiences. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with and able to talk to is extremely important. I work with my clients in a way which provides them with a space they can rely upon for safety, care and respect. This allows them to explore their difficulties and improve their well-being, as they gain more insight into their lives.

I can offer you Integrative counselling, an approach which uses Psychodynamic and Person-Centred theories to provide you with deeply empathic support whilst you process your experiences. During our sessions together,  I would work to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with you, providing you with a non-judgemental and safe environment to encourage and enable your healing. I know that you are the expert of your life,  and so would support you in processing your experiences and what they mean to you, always inviting and encouraging your insights and feelings into our space. I work in a non-directive way, at your pace. If this approach to counselling appeals to you, please get in touch.

I have experience in helping clients work through a variety of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Abuse and childhood trauma
  • Medical diagnoses
  • Relationship difficulties and breakdowns
  • Difficulties relating to sexuality and  gender identity
  • Bereavement and Loss
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Self harm

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and am a registered member of the BACP, so I abide by their ethical principles and framework.

I have worked with Listening Post and Share Young People's Counselling agencies, providing clients over the age of 18 with integrative therapeutic counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
