About me

BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor in Hythe, Kent
Supporting adults and young people in Hythe, Kent and surrounding areas (e.g. Folkestone, Sandgate, New Romney, Ashford, Canterbury)

Are you feeling anxious, low in mood, overwhelmed or struggling with relationships?
Has something happened that feels difficult to carry on your own?

I offer a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard. There is no pressure and no expectation — just space for you to talk, reflect and begin to make sense of things, at your own pace.

I am an integrative, trauma-informed, BACP accredited counsellor with over 20 years’ experience working with young people and adults in educational settings, as well as the NHS and private practice. I work both short and long term, depending on what feels right for you.

I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting. My aim is to offer a calm, compassionate and trusting environment where you can explore whatever may be troubling you.

The client-counsellor relationship is key to the success of therapy. Feeling safe, understood and accepted can create the foundation for real and lasting change, so building that relationship is at the heart of how I work.

I work with a range of issues, including (but not limited to):

Anxiety and panic
Depression and low mood
Stress and feeling overwhelmed
Trauma
Relationship and friendship difficulties
Bereavement and loss
Low self-esteem
Emotional challenges facing young people

Whether you are seeking support for yourself or for your young person, I offer a warm and respectful space to explore what is going on.

How I work

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to suit each individual, including:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Transactional Analysis (TA)
Gestalt Therapy
Creative therapeutic approaches (where needed/wanted)

With a person-centred approach at the heart of my work, I believe you are the expert of your own life, and counselling can help you reconnect with your strengths and rediscover the parts of yourself that may feel lost or uncertain.

Taking the First Step

Finding the right counsellor is important. I offer a free, no obligation, initial conversation so you can ask questions and see whether you feel comfortable.

You do not have to face things alone, so please do get in touch (by email or phone) to see is I can be of support to you or your young person.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
