About me

Hello. I'm Kathryn and welcome to Queslett Counselling. I hope you find what you are looking for.

  • How counselling and psychotherapy can help you...

When things happen to us and to others in our life, we can lose our way and it’s hard to know what to do or how to live. We can feel very helpless and alone.

I will offer you a calm, reassuring presence and the ability to be with you amidst chaos, sadness and grief or when life just feels out of balance. I will walk your journey with you, no matter how difficult or frightening this may seem.

  • What you can expect from me...

During our sessions, I will listen to you without judgement and accept you for who you are. By supporting you with care and compassion, you can gain greater insight into your life and be empowered to find a way through your distress.                           I work from what is known as a ‘person-centred’ approach which means, given the right environment, you will be able to feel more comfortable with yourself and become the person you are truly meant to be. Sometimes, I may use concepts from other approaches to help our understanding of what is going on for you.

  • Counselling and Psychotherapy at Queslett Counselling

I offer face to face counselling and psychotherapy at Queslett Counselling with on-drive parking, ground floor access and excellent public transport links. I also provide online and telephone sessions. The therapy I offer is open ended. However, if you would prefer an agreed number of sessions, we can discuss this during your initial session.

  • What happens in the initial session?

This is an opportunity for us to meet each other and for you to share with me what's going on for you. We will look at what you would like to get from counselling and how we could work together to achieve this. I will answer any questions or concerns you might have. I will ask you about your history to help me understand what's happened to you and where you are now.

If you are drawn towards working with me or you would like to find out more, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member (MBACP) of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

Qualifications include;

  • BSc First Class Honours Counselling
  • Foundation Degree (Distinction) Integrative Counselling
  • Extensive continuous professional development in many areas including grief and loss, trauma and relationship issues.

I have worked with clients facing many different issues over the last few years in a variety of settings.

My professional background has always involved listening and helping others find their way through various challenges. This has given me a valuable foundation for counselling work and the ability to sensitively stay with clients experiencing distress and difficulties in their life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
