About me

Hi, I’m Katherine. I believe in tuning in and paying attention to your body when exploring experiences and emotions. I support clients to understand the subtle emotional signals and tiny gut responses which may impact work, social, and private lives. I work alongside you as you take some time to breathe and (re)find your internal strength and footing.

I am a UKCP and ADMP UK registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist who works with adults from a range of backgrounds. I’m now based in Scotland, but worked for the past six years in an NHS Trust in England.

My approach is integrative, drawing from different psychotherapeutic models with a person-led approach. What is most important to me is building a safe and supportive relationship with each client I work with - providing space for you to unpick your tangles and explore what is important to you.

Because I am trained as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist, my approach is grounded in exploring bodily experience, but I also utilise other creative modalities. This includes drawing and using clay, using a sand therapy tray, or making sound together with small instruments, as well as verbal reflection.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy.

Prior to moving to Edinburgh, I worked for the NHS in England in a multi-disciplinary team. I supported adults in mainstream community services, forensic services, and adults accessing a specialist learning disability service.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

ADMP
Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK (ADMP)

ADMP UK is the professional organisation for the profession for Dance Movement Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom.

They aim to support the development of DMP in the UK and internationally; foster communication among Dance Movement Psychotherapists (DMPs); and promote the use of DMP throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.
