About me
You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying things on your own. Perhaps anxiety, past experiences, or self-doubt are affecting your daily life, relationships, or sense of self. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone.
Hello, I’m Katie Haynes, a fully qualified psychotherapist and registered member of the BACP (MBACP). I provide a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.
I work in a person-centred and integrative way, which means therapy is shaped around you as an individual. I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace, with someone who truly listens. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you better understand yourself, process difficult experiences, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional strength.
I have experience working in schools, charities, and crisis settings, supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and persistent worry
- Depression and low mood
- Trauma and abuse
- Low self-esteem and self-confidence
- Bereavement and loss
- Identity and life transitions
- Eating disorders and body image difficulties
- Gender identity and LGBTQ+ experiences
- Emotional distress and self-harm
I am particularly passionate about supporting people who may have spent much of their lives putting others first, feeling unheard, or struggling silently. Therapy can be a place where you reconnect with yourself, begin to understand patterns that no longer serve you, and develop a stronger, more compassionate relationship with who you are.
Clients often tell me they feel a sense of relief in having a space where they don’t need to pretend, explain themselves repeatedly, or hold everything together. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and authenticity, where you feel safe to explore whatever you need to.
Seeking therapy is a meaningful and courageous step. Whether you are in crisis, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I am here to support you.
I aim to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can explore your experiences safely, without fear of judgement. Together, we can work towards helping you feel more in control, more connected to yourself, and more able to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Once we agree to proceed with therapy, we'll schedule weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes at a time that suits us both. You'll have the freedom to bring whatever you deem important/necessary to our sessions. There's no "right" or "wrong" way to approach it; what truly matters are your thoughts and feelings. Together, we'll explore whatever is troubling you, gradually gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.
