About me

I can offer a safe, calm, confidential and supportive space in which to explore and unravel the issues and problems that you are dealing with. Counselling can feel daunting, reaching out for support is a big step.

I am a person-centred counsellor, I will sit with you in our sessions and hold the weight of your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Together we can unpick, examine and process what has been happening in your life, in an empathic, non-judgmental manner. Offering space for reflection and release.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and counselling can feel like the unknown. Byways Counselling is based on the principle of exploring the little trodden path. Opening up avenues of emotions, experiences and feelings in order to gain a better understanding of self.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience with a variety of presenting issues, including, grief, bereavement, loss, family relationships, work worries, separations, anxiety, to name but a few.

In my experience, people come to counselling with an issue or problem to address. Throughout the course of our sessions together we very often go down many different avenues and paths, unlocking all sorts of interlinked worries and issues in their life, that perhaps they were not even aware needed addressing and exploring. Counselling is an exploration of self, a journey I feel privileged to join.

I am a fully qualified counsellor having completed over four years of training and studying and completed year long placements at St. Richard's Hospice and Cruse Bereavement Support. My qualifications are as follows;

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Online and Telephone Counselling Course
  • Walk, Talk and Ecotherapy Training
  • Bereavement and Grief Training
  • Mental Health First Aid Champion

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
