About me

Therapy is different for everyone, and how you choose to use it will be unique to you. You may be finding life difficult to cope with and require some support, or you may simply be seeking a space where the focus is on you, to explore whatever is coming up for you in your life. Perhaps you are experiencing conflict or other types of communication issues within your relationship(s).

I see therapy as a potentially meaningful journey of self-discovery, as well as a way to help alleviate personal suffering. There may be patterns of behaviour that you are engaged in that you don't really understand, and that seem to be unhelpful in meeting your current needs. We can explore these dynamics together, and try to understand more about them.

I have experience of working with a range of issues, including working with clients who are experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression. I have also worked with clients feeling a sense of self-doubt, low self-esteem and toxic shame. Such feelings are often associated with parts of oneself that have been devalued. Therapy can help people acknowledge and own these parts of themselves, allowing more self-compassion and confidence.

I have also worked with individual clients and couples on issues of attachment and withdrawal within their relationships, as well as difficulty managing conflict and other challenges. Therapy can offer a space to process more deeply and gain a greater understanding of the dynamics and patterns that play out in your relationships.

I work in an integrative way, meaning that I draw on different therapeutic models, depending on the individual needs of my clients. This is your space, and we will work together in a way that feels right for us both/all of us. Often the work involves talking together, but use of imagery and even movement could be helpful. Connecting with our bodies is important too - they may tell us things that we cannot easily process cognitively. It can be helpful just to notice what we are sensing physically at times.

Alongside my therapeutic training, I continued to work in the finance industry, as I had done for many years prior to training. I recognise the stresses people can feel when trying to cope with emotional and/or psychological issues in the workplace, and the discomfort of deciding whether or not to disclose these. Therapy can offer a space to explore difficulties you may be experiencing in this area.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
