About me

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

I would like to start by recognising how difficult it can be to take the first step into counselling and finding the right counsellor, especially when life is testing us and we are trying to make sense of what is going on around us.

Making contact for the first time can be hard but I would like to reassure you that counselling can be of real benefit during challenging times.

Counselling can provide a space for you to just talk when the noise of life gets too much; I am aware that often we are listened to but not always heard. From my experience counselling can have a long lasting and beneficial effect on a persons life. Through the counselling process qualities will emerge giving you the confidence to deal with the pressures of life and take back control and leave you feeling empowered.

How do I work.

I work in an Integrative way which simply means I draw on various approaches in order to adapt my style of counselling to your needs. I often use aspects of Gestal, CBT, and Existential approaches in the way I work. I may sometimes offer a more creative way of working to help unlock the thought process but only if this is something you feel comfortable with.

My ultimate goal is for you to feel at ease and relaxed so you have the ability to process your thoughts, explore and express yourself with what is going on for you in this moment feeling safe and held. I work holistically which means I consider all aspects of you to be as important as the words you are using.

The counselling relationship is built on mutual trust and respect. I am aware our individuality can get lost in our families and work lives and sometimes we need to find ourselves again. Your voice is important and deserves to be heard.

The work we undertake will be regularly reviewed together to ensure your feeling comfortable with the direction the counselling is heading and agree on new ares to work on to go back and revisit ares that may need more attention.

I believe we all want to have a sense of inner peace within ourselves and the world around us and I am passionate about walking alongside you to find that sense.

I have experience in working with clients who have presented with issues such as anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, relationship issues, loss and bereavement.

Children and young people.

I am able to provide counselling to young people (11 to 18 yrs)

I am a school based counsellor working with 11 to 16 yrs and have managed a school counselling service for a number of years. I strongly believe in providing a positive and empowering service for the young people in this world to help them navigate the pressures they face in today's world. I am able to work with issues relating to exam stress, family issues, school issues, self-harm, anxiety and low mood.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read through my profile, if you have any questions or would like an informal chat please feel free to contact me via email or text; I will respond to you as soon as possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
