About me

Welcome to Counselling with Karla! Do you ever feel overwhelmed with your responsibilities? Or like you're putting everyone before yourself? Perhaps you struggle with your moods and self-esteem?

I can offer you a friendly and confidential space to support you in managing anxiety and depression.

Our sessions are completely focused on helping you make the changes you want on your own terms. I can help you learn how to put yourself first without feeling guilty and grow in confidence to trust your own instincts.

From personal and professional experience, I know how isolating and overwhelming anxiety and depression are. I can work with you one-on-one in a non-judgmental and empathetic space where you truly feel heard and can be completely yourself.

I provide online and telephone counselling sessions at a reduced price for adults struggling with their mental health.

I am passionate about helping my clients to work through their issues with a Person-Centred approach. This simply means that the session is focused on you and your issues, and my role is to listen and support you to find growth and feel empowered.

I can offer a free informal 20-minute chat if you would like to explore working with me, and for any questions you may have.

I currently complete ongoing training as part of my professional development.

I hope to offer a more creative writing approach in the future, and I am currently completing my training in this.

I also have a degree in English Literature with Creative Writing, and MSc in Journalism that supports my skills.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
