Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

About me

About Me

Hello, I'm Karen - a CBT therapist

You might be here because something doesn't feel quite right. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious low in mood, or stuck in patterns that are hard to break. Perhaps you've been coping for a long time - pushing through, just getting on with it, putting others first, or trying to manage on your own - but it's starting to feel exhausting.

I offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow things down and feel genuinely heard, without judgement. Together, we can begin to make sense of what's going on beneath the surface and find a way forward that feels more manageable.

My work is grounded in evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy is shaped around you - your experiences, your pace, and what you need right now. Alongside CBT,  I may draw on additional approaches where helpful, and I also offer the option of integrating Reiki for those who feel open to a more holistic element.

How I can Help

I work with adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety and constant overthinking
  • Low mood and depression
  • Emotional overwhelm or burnout
  • Past experiences that still feel close or difficult to move on from
  • People -pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • OCD, phobias and panic
  • Anger or difficulty managing emotions

You may not have a clear label for what you're feeling, and that's okay. We can figure it out together.

How I work

My approach is collaborative, gentle and grounded.

CBT helps us understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected - and why certain patterns can feel so hard to change.

Alongside this, I bring a compassionate approach to the work. Many people I see are dealing with a strong inner critic, feelings of shame or a sense that they're "not coping as they should". Rather than pushing this away, we work to understand where this comes from and begin to develop a more supportive and balanced way of relating to yourself.

This means we're not just focusing on change, but also on helping you feel safer, steadier, and less alone in what you're experiencing.

A bit about me

I am a fully qualified CBT therapist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Groupwork. I have experience supporting people with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

I have 2 years' experience within a leading bereavement charity, and I also volunteer in a crisis centre, where I've been supporting individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts for over 3 years.

This is work I care deeply about. It has given me a real appreciation of how overwhelming things can feel, and how important it is to have someone alongside you who listens, understands, and helps you feel less alone.

I offer a consistent, supportive space and aim to respond to enquiries promptly, with initial appointments often available within a short timeframe.

I am a member of COSCA and BABCP, and a registered member of BACP, and I work in line with their ethical frameworks.

Next Step

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step.

If you're unsure, you're very welcome to book a free 20-minute call. This gives you the chance to ask questions, talk a little about what's going on, and see if I feel like the right fit for you - with no pressure to continue.

Training, qualifications & experience

Further information

I have a background in the corporate world, and have raised my own family. As such I am well versed in the complexities of family life and meeting the expectations of employers, alongside all the challenges that life throws along the way.

I take a very person centred approach to therapy, and offer both Reiki and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help clients overcome their difficulties and move forward to reach their wellbeing goals and aspirations. Every therapy treatment is as unique as the individual seeking help. Reiki is of course, optional however it is a wonderfully relaxing treatment, and I have witnessed the benefits it offers on many occasions.
