About me
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist who is a registered member of the BACP, working within their ethical framework.
I have always had a passion for helping others. I have many years experience of working with people who are struggling with life's challenges. I offer short or long term counselling for adults age 18 plus.
I believe that the quality of the client/counsellor relationship is crucial. My work is grounded in a person-centred approach which means you are placed at the very heart of the work we will do together. I aim to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment which will enable you, with my help, to work through the issues you bring to our sessions and, in so doing, develop clarity and a deeper understanding of those issues and the best way forward for you.
Areas I work with include, but are not exclusive to, bereavement and loss, anxiety and stress, lack of direction/worries about the future, family issues, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, low mood, lack of motivation, relationship difficulties.
I offer face to face and online counselling sessions. I offer an initial 20 minute telephone or online introductory session when we can explore your needs and expectations and decide if they fit with the service which I offer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified person centred counsellor/psychotherapist (BA Hons, PG Dip Counselling and Psychotherapy) I have also done training in CBT.
Alongside private practice I have for several years provided volunteer counselling for a bereavement service.
I keep my knowledge and skills up to date by regularly undertaking continual professional development.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
