About me

I am currently working remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions. I am offering either video sessions (the next best thing to face to face sessions) via a very secure Telehealth platform or by phone. In this crisis therapy is even more essential than ever, where social isolation, fear and trauma are being experienced by almost all people, all over the world. It is easy to negate the anxiety, loss and feelings of sadness we are experiencing if we are safe at home, to look at others and think we should not feel as we do because they "have it worse than we do", however, this is not the case. Whether you are an essential worker suffering from trauma and struggling with what you are having to deal with or someone struggling alone with the social isolation, stuck in an abusive situation, loss of family members, loss of work, struggling with the children or one of the other ways we have been affected, counselling can help you now.

I am an experienced, senior accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and senior accredited supervisor, who offers a non-judgemental approach to counselling. I genuinely believe that no problem is too big or too small. If it is causing you distress, then it is important to me. I use an integrative approach and believe there is always an alternative solution to a problem. As a counsellor I believe in a collaborative approach, with clients setting their own agenda and deciding what they want to work on. I believe you always have a choice and I will offer you a supportive and understanding space to explore what those choices may be.

I offer a safe and confidential counselling service in a dedicated therapy room, located in a discrete area, with parking facilities.

I have 17 + years experience in short term therapy; within GP practice, for large companies and within private practice. I have experience in longer term therapy; within secondary care for the NHS and private practice. I have experience as a counselling lecturer and offer CPD training. I am also a senior accredited clinical supervisor.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I have accessibility, including accessible toilet facilities at my TF3 premises. Please mention you may need this facility when making your first appointment.
