About me

If you are reading this, you have taken the courageous first step to explore if talking therapies could help you deal with the issue, problem or worry stopping you from being the person you want to be. Issues, events or challenges past, present or future, all can be explored through counselling. Starting therapy and working through challenges is not easy. You need to be ready to share, to be honest with yourself and with me.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me, Karen Beckwith, a qualified Counsellor, Coach, Mentor and member of BACP. I am trained in Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural and Transactional Analysis. These are all types of recognised therapeutic models, allowing me to provide a rounded supportive response to your specific needs.

Sometimes it feels hard to speak to those closest to us about situations which are causing you to feel unsure, angry, anxious, sad or lonely. Through the use of talking therapies, I walk along side you on your journey to increase self awareness and understanding relating to the issues that are on your mind, whatever they might be.

I am passionate about making a difference in the lives of those I work with: helping to find a path through issues past, present and future; memories and events that have influenced your life; situations that are impacting on you now and challenges ahead that seem impossible to navigate. Maybe issues you have kept hidden, suppressed and now wish to deal with or face up to. I have also developed a reframing approach to consider the whole of you in achieving your goals. I provide a  safe, judgement free space, where you can share, so if you are ready to find out if working with me could be the next step for you, do get in touch.

Thank you for stopping by.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
