There are times in our life when we need emotional support and help from others as life is demanding due to a crisis thrown at us, or life changes through divorce, bereavement, redundancy and much more. When we ask for support and it is judgmental, offering little or no empathy, we can feel even more lost and unheard. We can become out of touch with ourselves and feel unable to truly explore our feelings so that we can make positive changes in our lives.
Drawing upon my professional and life experience, I aim to empower you by helping you explore your concerns in a safe and confidential counselling relationship to provide support that is suitable to your particular life circumstance.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
I specialise in CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
Using CBT I can help you address a range of issues to make positive changes for example:
Anxiety; Generalised Anxiety Disorder (where anxiety has continued for 6 months and over), Panic, Stress, Depression; Obsessive Compulsive Behaviours (e.g. cleaning, social media, smoking).
For beneficial therapy outcome the number of CBT sessions taken will depend upon individual needs. However an initial 6 sessions are recommended for positive changes to take place. This involves CBT tasks which I will introduce to give you tools to, for example manage anxiety symptoms, work with negative thought processes, be in touch with feelings and behavioural patterns to help make positive life changes.
I also offer couples counselling to help explore relationship dynamics, overcome communication barriers.
I offer face to face private counselling to individuals and couples.
Skype, Email and Telephone counselling is also available.
I am also a qualified Supervisor offering supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors. Please contact me for further details.
