About me

I am a warm person offering a safe space to unpack life’s troubles in safety, and working at your own pace forge a way forward to resolve issues, helping you to live your life from a more balanced and settled perspective.

As an integrative therapist I have skills that can help with an array of human challenges such as; anxiety, trauma, grief, bereavement, guilt, shame, loss, low self esteem, betrayal, abuse, poor self image, negative and repetitive thoughts or generally feeling overwhelmed.

My approach is Humanistic, and this means that, I see you as an individual and will take into consideration all your needs including mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and creative.

Having many years successful experience, working therapeutically with people on a one to one basis, as well as group work environments, I am confident that I can make a positive difference in your life.

As well as providing individual therapy I have over a decades experience of working in addiction treatment services, helping individuals address and overcome mental health, trauma and addiction issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified trauma informed therapeutic counsellor.

Through life's challenges we experience difficulties in many ways: from physical injuries/accidents, adverse childhood memories, to relationship break ups and everyday stresses.

I have developed skills that can help to heal from both mental and physical perspectives enabling healing from a fuller, holistic, mind body perspective; re-learning to breathe more fully can be as useful and transformative as developing new thinking skills.

I am I.F.S (internal family systems) informed. I.F.S is a modern approach to healing trauma which helps to integrate various 'parts' of ourselves, that often feel at odds with each other. The I.F.S approach seeks to integrate stuck emotions and defensive thought patterns that try to protect but can often keep a person locked in a cycle of self defeating behaviour. Relationships, work and self-esteem are areas commonly affected. By adopting a more curious and compassionate attitude to oneself using the I.F.S approach people often experience healing and self empowerment, quickly.

I  have undertaken extensive training in several other modalities including; C.B.T (cognitive behavioural therapy) and mindfulness based self compassion; which helps to deal effectively with a range of issues such as everyday stresses to creating a healthier lasting relationship with yourself.

As an optional part of every session, I also offer energy rebalancing: Energy rebalancing is a form of Reiki; through a few of simple breathing/visualisation and centring techniques we bring your mind and body into a state of calmness and peace. Many people who receive energy rebalancing alongside traditional therapy find it to be very effective.

Once learned, these simple effective tools can be practiced confidently alone.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
