Juliet Thornton MA MBACP
Hello and welcome to my profile.
If you are going through tough and difficult times, coping and overcoming them may feel too hard to deal with alone. Sometimes, events or accidents happen unexpectedly and are traumatic, or the outcome of decisions we make are disappointing or relationships with others are difficult or fail. Our life can become filled with anxiety, depression and as we spiral down, we can feel overwhelmed and lose sight of who we are and we can feel lost and without hope.
I am an experienced, qualified psychotherapist and counsellor who works with clients of all ages. They come with many different struggles and are weighed down with problems that feel overwhelming and make daily life very hard. I see individual adult clients and couples.
I believe that counselling can make a difference and working with the right therapist can offer the opportunity for hope that life can be better. It is possible to change habits, gain more control in your life, build self-esteem and for healing to take place and life to change for the better. As a result, it is possible for you to make new choices and change old ways of being that have caused difficulties that may have lead to anxiety, depression and other problems.
At the heart of my work is the relationship that I build with each client. It is important that you feel safe and that you can trust me. I am understanding, empathic and will listen and not judge.
We can work for a few sessions or over a longer period of time. The length of therapy will depend on your needs, wishes and the issues that you bring. I will always try to work in ways and at a pace that are appropriate to you and your story.
I usually work face to face in Headspace clinics in Leeds City Centre and Ilkley. This is currently not possible due to the Covid-19 virus and the advice from Government to stay at home. I am based at home until the lockdown is lifted and able to conduct sessions online and over the 'phone. I am experienced in working with clients remotely.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
