About me

You may be experiencing difficult and confusing emotions due to an unexpected event such as a bereavement or loss, or you may be struggling with symptoms of anxiety or simply feel that you have reached a crossroads in your life.  I offer a calm, confidential and welcoming space where I will be present with you and listen to your thoughts and feelings without judgement.  Sharing in this way helps to ease the burden you are carrying and allows you to make sense of what may feel overwhelming at the present time.

Our sessions will be a gentle exploration of your life with the focus on the present. This will inevitably include looking sometimes into the past and also looking ahead to the future.  I have 8 years experience of working with clients struggling with bereavement, complex bereavement, grief and loss, anxiety, relationship difficulties and infertility

I may point out contradictions and patterns that you are unaware of which can often lead to insights and/or a new way of seeing a situation.  Our sessions will be held with a view to allowing you to ultimately live more authentically and to find joy in your life, even in challenging circumstances.

I recognise that the process of therapy may be unfamiliar to you, and I aim to create a therapeutic space where you feel both comfortable and relaxed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP registered psychotherapist with a postgraduate diploma in existential psychotherapy and counselling.

I have over 8 years experience of working with clients both online and face-to-face.  In recent years, I worked for specialist charities where I provided therapy sessions to adults who were affected by anxiety, relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement, grief and loss.

In 2022 I attended a BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) foundation course and I have experience working with female clients with concerns around pregnancy loss, fertility and pregnancy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
