About me
As a qualified counsellor I offer a warm, safe, professional, non-judgmental space where, together, we can access your inner resources to help you move forward with your life in a way that feels comfortable to you, promoting a sense of well being and growth.
You may come to counselling knowing what issues you want to explore and focus upon, or you may not be able to pinpoint why you feel as you do. Whatever brings you to counselling I will support you to identify and explore the areas that you wish to focus upon, using my skills as a counsellor. I have extensive experience in working with low mood, depression, anxiety, grief, loss and trauma.
The counselling relationship is fundamental, I will work with you to develop our .therapeutic relationship in order to promote an environment where you feel supported in our work together. Through either short or long term therapy my focus will be upon addressing the areas that are important to you, making our work together tailor-made to suit you as a unique individual. It is my aim to ensure that I work sensitively and at a pace which is comfortable for you as we explore your thoughts, emotions and life experiences
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and have extensive experience of working in the NHS and education sectors, this means I have the ability to draw upon different concepts to support you in exploring any difficulties you are experiencing. I have experience in dealing with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression and trauma. I have an interest in supporting clients to explore their childhood and gain insight into how this affects their current life. I am also experienced in supporting clients through challenging times, such as bereavement, relationship issues and changes in a client’s domestic life, friendships and work. I have worked with clients to explore specific life challenges and experiences such as physical changes, body image issues, illness and abuse.
I am a member of the BACP and my professional practice is guided by their ethical principles. I attend regular training and professional development in order to ensure that my practice is up to date and that I deliver a professional service to my clients.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
