About me
Hello! I'm Julie.
I am a fully qualified, Person-centred counsellor based in South East London, SE14. I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment for you to explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace.
I know from experience that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you're feeling anxious or uncertain.
Please feel free to email me if you would like an initial 15-minute Zoom chat to explore how we could work together, and I can answer any questions you have.
My approach is non-directive, meaning that you decide on the focus of our work. I provide compassionate support and I offer a non-judgemental, empathic and authentic counselling relationship where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind, and where you can feel empowered to discover your own path forward. Concentrating on your specific needs that are unique to you, we'll collaborate to transform your understanding of yourself and create space for healing.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 5 Higher Professional Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy (Lewisham Counselling & Counsellor Training Associates) and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework. (BACP Registered Member: MBACP 408634)
My continuing professional development training has included certification for: Working with Shame, Ethical Counselling in Substance Misuse, Weight Stigma, Fatphobia and diet culture in the therapy room, Working with domestic abuse, and Neurodiversity in the counselling room.
My experience includes working with clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, and sexual orientations. Alongside running my own private practice, I work with a community counselling service and with a low-cost online counselling service specialising in addiction and recovery.
Alongside my client work, I am a Skills group tutor on the Higher Professional Diploma (Level 5) counselling course at LC&CTA.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
You can choose between short-term or open-ended counselling, depending on your preference. Short-term counselling involves agreeing on a set number of sessions, while open-ended counselling allows us to continue working together until you feel ready to stop. We'll regularly review your progress and discuss when ending might be right for you. I follow a flexible approach, and the decision of when to end is always yours, something we can discuss, review, and change as needed.
I offer a free initial 15-minute phone or Zoom consultation. During this time, we can discuss your needs and you can ask me any questions you have. This is a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and to see if you feel comfortable talking with me. There's no obligation to book further sessions after the call– it's entirely up to you.
If you decide you’d like to work with me, subsequent sessions last 50 minutes.
