Julia Normington BA, PG Dip. Clinical Psychotherapeutic Counselling, MBACP
Most people at some time in their lives experience painful and challenging emotions that can be difficult to make sense of. It can help to find professional support to work through the problems and issues you are facing.
As a therapeutic counsellor I work non-judgementally with you to explore your concerns. Everyone is unique and I offer an empathic and confidential space to listen to you and develop meaning around issues that bring you for counselling at this time. This might include relationship difficulties, divorce, bereavement, anxiety, depression, isolation and loneliness, issues around culture, work stress, transitions, low self-esteem, unresolved childhood issues, disordered eating, addictions and compulsions.
Therapy is different to talking to family and friends and this process may help you speak more honestly and safely about your thoughts, painful feelings or ways of managing that might concern you.
People I work with often want to live more as themselves and feel more creative and joyful. The process of therapy and being heard and listened to can help develop understanding, skills to reflect and new ways of experiencing our mind-body relationship. This can lead to greater self awareness and acceptance and can help you to make changes, if this is what you want.
You may have a specific issue you want to resolve or you may wish to reflect on your life and relationships over a longer period of time.
