About me

Hello, as I write this, I wonder how your life might be at the moment.  Perhaps you're feeling sad or depressed, lonely, confused or troubled, anxious, lost and alone.  Has something happened that has turned your world upside down?  Are you feeling out of sorts and can't pinpoint why?  Maybe you're disturbed by events from the past, fearful of the future or overwhelmed by what is happening right now.

Counselling with me offers a space where you can start to touch on those tender bruises inside with someone trained to listen and support you as you explore your inner world.

I provide a compassionate and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, accepted and cared for.  A space where you are treated with respect, kindness and dignity.  We work together to deeply understand your experience and discover what you might need in this moment.

I am passionate about supporting people experiencing life's challenges including those experiences or events that change the life you thought you were going to live, that can bring changes that feel overwhelming and often bring a sense of grief and loss.  These include bereavement or relationship breakdown, traumatic events and less recognised experiences like living with chronic or life-limiting health conditions or being childless not by choice.

I am a person centred counsellor and a qualified adoption support counsellor. I work with adults on an individual basis in person in Craven Arms and Ludlow (Shropshire) and by telephone or video call across the UK.  I also have some availability to meet in-person in Knighton (Powys).

I am committed to continuing my professional development and have attended various courses including:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
