About me

Hello, I’m a person-centred counsellor and a qualified adoption support counsellor. I work with adults on an individual basis in person in Craven Arms and Ludlow (Shropshire) and by telephone or video call across the UK.

As I write this, I wonder who might be reading these words, what might be happening in your life and how we might work together. Perhaps something has happened that has turned your world upside down. You might be feeling lost, alone, or misunderstood.  Whatever the reason, counselling can offer a space where you can start to touch on those tender bruises inside which often leads to a greater understanding of ourselves and our situation.

I am committed to providing a compassionate and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, accepted and cared for.  A space where you are treated with respect, kindness and dignity.  A space where you start to learn more about yourself as new understandings, new awareness and/or new connections emerge, and you start to find different ways of coping or changes you can make.

I have a special interest in supporting people experiencing grief and loss. This could be following a bereavement or from less recognised experiences such as traumatic events, living with a chronic or life-limiting health condition or being childless not by choice. The experiences or events that change the life you thought you were going to live.

“In grief, we need to take time to mourn for the life we were supposed to have” (David Kessler)

It is such a privilege to be a witness to clients as they start to find their way through and find a way of being in the world that is meaningful to them.

Next Step

Contact me by email, telephone call or text to arrange a free introductory telephone call to explore how we might work together and to answer any questions you may have.  This call also gives you the opportunity to start get a feel of who I am and if I am someone you could work with.

Please leave a message if I am unable to answer the call.  I aim to return any calls within 24 hours – this may be by text to acknowledge your call and to arrange a time for me to call you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
