About me

About Me

My name is Joseph. I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist.

Most people reach out when the ways they have always adapted to meet the world stop working, whether that manifests as chronic anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or repeating relationship struggles. Certain experiences from the past and unconscious thoughts are often the cause, and these patterns have understandable psychological roots that can be explored and resolved.

I provide a warm, confidential space for adults and couples from all walks of life. Together, we explore how your history and early life continue to shape your present, helping you navigate immediate crises and move toward a stronger sense of wholeness, clarity, and a more meaningful life.

How I Work

There is a stereotype that therapists either sit in cold, silent detachment or offer passive, nod-and-validate comfort. My approach is neither.

I provide a warm, human, and down-to-earth relationship where we can explore your history, your fears, and the rich language of your dreams and personal symbols. This process will help transform the outdated beliefs holding you back and help you look at patterns that are usually too close for you to see clearly on your own.

Working with Immediate Difficulties

While I primarily work in long-term depth, I also provide focused, short- and medium-term therapy when a burden has become too heavy to carry alone. Our first step is simply to create stability, relief, and practical clarity across areas such as:

Anxiety & Panic
Relationship Struggles
Burnout & Work Exhaustion
Depression & Low Mood
Grief & Major Transitions

For some, a focused period of short-term therapy is exactly what they need to get back on their feet. For others, resolving an immediate crisis becomes the natural doorway to exploring deeper, lifelong patterns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
