About me
The client’s needs are at the heart of the therapy I provide. Sometimes the pressures of life can build, and it can feel overwhelming. I offer a safe environment where we can explore your inner and outer world and work towards your goals for therapy. I aim to build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable and empowered to grow in your desired direction. I work integratively and collaboratively, drawing on differing therapeutic disciplines depending on your needs.
I am an integrative therapist with a person-centered base. This means I believe we are each our own best resource for change. I aim to work with you to build that resource in a supportive, compassionate, and encouraging manner.
I offer face-to-face therapy from my comfortable office in Edgerton, Huddersfield.
I am also working online (WhatsApp and Zoom) and over the telephone with clients who prefer to do so. I have found some clients prefer the ease of accessibility online can offer and can feel more comfortable with therapy done in this way.
My room is easy to reach from Huddersfield town centre or the M62 and has free off-street parking.
Training, qualifications & experience
I specialize in working with adults 18+ offering both long and short-term therapy. I utilise my extensive 6-year training which has included CBT, Person-Centred, and Psychodynamic principles, as well as over 1650 hours of clinical practice. I work sensitively with adults who have experienced trauma and hardship in their childhood and growing up. Often these experiences require a gentle and sensitive approach so that clients can explore what is going on for them in the here and now.
Many individuals often suffer from the overwhelming effects of anxiety and depression. I use my experience of working with clients from all walks of life, and research-based strategies to help my clients gain an understanding of why they feel the way they do.
I hold a Psychology and Counselling BSc (Hons) degree and a Psychotherapy and Counselling MA degree. I am a registered member of the BACP and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I also have an enhanced DBS certificate.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Sessions
My sessions are 50 minutes and I also offer an initial meeting of 25 minutes. This initial meeting allows us to get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you, then after this initial meeting, we can discuss if we will continue to work together.
I am also more than happy to have a short initial chat on the phone beforehand, please feel free to give me a call or request a call-back.
