About me
Hello, my name is Jonathan and I am an empathic, fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychodynamic therapist working in Worthing, Brighton & Hove and Sussex.
I have my own established private practice in Worthing where I offer face to face and online therapy. I also work therapeutically with adults at a well-established therapeutic charity.
How counselling can help
My style is warm and supportive, and I provide a safe space which is neutral, objective and non-judgemental for us to work together on problems that might feel too overwhelming or scary for you to manage alone. Through looking at past traumas, challenging events, or difficulties we process unhelpful patterns of behaviour; thought processes and coping mechanisms to give you the skills and tools to enable you to combat issues and make things work on your own in the future.
I provide short or long-term therapy, depending on your needs.
I have a wealth of experience supporting young people and adults working with a whole range of life challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, loss, child abuse, suicidal thoughts, shame, anger, sexuality, relationship issues, and general personal development.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked in education for over 10 years supporting children and young people who found the constraints of a classroom challenging before training as a psychodynamic therapist and counsellor. For 2 years I worked as a trauma recovery therapist by providing psychological interventions and parenting approaches with children and adolescents who had experienced developmental trauma and had attachment difficulties. I supported children, young people and adults to recover well from adverse childhood experiences, so that they could live their life well at home, school, work and out and about within their local communities.
I also continue to attend different training courses to ensure that I remain up to date with the latest developments in counselling and psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the BACP.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
