About me
I remember when I felt confused, overwhelmed and stuck. I knew exactly what I needed to do to sort things out, but I didn’t feel capable of doing them. Every time someone else told me what I needed to do, I just sank down further into the mud.
I’ve worked with people experiencing problems with loss, grief, depression, anxiety, dependency, self esteem, stress, doubt, sudden change, fear of changing, loss of confidence, relationship issues, stigma, isolation, struggling to let go, homelessness and uncertainty. I’ve liaised with psychology teams, social work teams, psychiatry teams, GPs, medical professionals and other agencies.
I’ve integrated lots of methods into my approach, nothing much phases me and I’m happy to first talk through your concerns with you, to make sure we’re right for each other. My practice is grounded in evidence-based techniques.
You’ll get no judgements, dodgy diagnosing or labelling from me. I’m easygoing, approachable and relaxed. I’ve no magic wand and no magic answers, but I am very skilled at supporting people to find the answers they’re looking for.
I’ve been in therapy and know how scary it can be to take that first step. I also know that with some support and understanding, we can hopefully make the changes we’ve always wanted to make. You’ve been determined enough to make it this far. Let’s build on that strength together and try to find your way forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a qualified member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I bring twenty five years of experience and expertise from working with clients in the NHS, mental health charities, the voluntary sector and the private sector.
I use a lots of different methods to support my work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy practices, an understanding of adverse childhood events, trauma informed techniques and mindfulness skills. I use a person-centred approach, which puts you and your experiences at the centre of our work together.
I’ve worked well with some of the most vulnerable people in society and I’m offering a safe, confidential space for us to collaborate on the things you want to try and understand. We will work via video link to make support easily accessible for you.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
