About me
My name is Joe Amos, I offer online counselling sessions that are rooted in a person-centred approach, which means I believe you have the inner resources for growth and change and I will support you to find them. My strength is in supporting clients who feel anxious and trapped in harmful cycles to create lasting, positive change. I strive to listen without judgment, ensuring that you feel welcomed, respected, and valued throughout our work together. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is a vital factor towards achieving your goals. I believe that our connection will be at the heart of your journey towards positive outcomes.
Why counselling?
People seek therapy for many reasons—sometimes feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of why they’re struggling. Whether you’re facing anxiety, addiction, stress, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, it takes real courage to ask for support. Opening up about emotions that may have remained unspoken is not easy, but it’s a powerful step toward healing.
No matter how difficult things feel, you carry a strength within you. By exploring your thoughts and emotions with clarity, you can uncover insights that align with your personal truth. As you gain awareness and confidence, life may begin to feel more open, creative, and intentional.
You don’t have to go through this alone. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can be truly heard and understood. Together, we will navigate your inner world with curiosity and compassion, giving you the space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Whatever arises, we will face it together.

Before establishing my private practice, I worked as a counsellor in colleges and recovery centres, supporting individuals through various challenges.
Beyond my counselling work, I have teaching experience both in the UK and abroad, having spent several years living and working in Italy. Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
