About me
My name is Joanne and I am a Person Centred counselling professional and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am passionate about talking therapy and I understand the power of being truly heard by another person. Through being open and approachable, my aim is to build a warm and supportive therapeutic relationship in a private and confidential setting.
I offer face to face counselling sessions in Faringdon and Shrivenham in Oxfordshire, Highworth Holistic Health in Wiltshire and I'm also very happy to work online via Teams or WhatsApp. Therapy with me provides a safe and calm environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
Person Centred counselling is based on empathy and genuine understanding. I will walk alongside you, seeing the world from your perspective so that together we can explore what may be holding you back or causing distress. There is no criticism, pressure or expectation in our work. You will be met with respect, acceptance and understanding so that you can speak freely and be yourself.
Alongside my core training, I also hold a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. This specialist qualification enhances my ability to work therapeutically with young people aged 11 and above, while I continue to support adults of all ages. My approach remains person centred, valuing each individual as unique with the capacity for growth and change.
As a counsellor I am bound by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling which ensures that I receive regular monthly supervision and undertake continuous professional development to keep myself up to date with changes and relevant research with my field of work.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
