About me
Hello there and welcome…my name is Joanne. I am a Couples Counsellor and Psychosexual Therapist who also works with individuals and couples experiencing relationship difficulties. I also work with individuals experiencing sexual addiction/compulsive behaviours and their partners.
All relationships have up’s and downs, this is quite normal and we have to re-adjust when life throws up these challenges. If you are experiencing any of the difficulties below though and are finding it hard to resolve, then it may be time to seek experienced support:
· Do you no longer feel able to talk to your partner? Do your conversations always seem to turn into an argument? Or maybe you no longer choose to share your thoughts and feelings with you partner for fear of the response that you may get?
· Do you find that more often than not you do not want to return to your home at the end of a busy working day as you feel your partner does not understand you, whatever you say or do seems to be wrong?
· Maybe you feel like you have taken second place since the children were born and you no longer get what you need from your relationship?
· Are you needing to be close and intimate with your partner but, your partner does not seem to reciprocate, leaving you feeling pushed away? Or are you experiencing loss of desire, erectile dysfunction, pain during intercourse or other issues that are causing distress?
· Are you finding that you are no longer interested in your partner but unsure why? Maybe you are questioning whether to stay or go?
May be an affair has been disclosed or the relationship is in crisis and you maybe struggling to overcome the anxiety experienced after disclosure of infidelity or may even be considering ending the relationship
Or, have you noticed that in each relationship you get involved with, the same unhealthy patterns are repeated and you want this to change?
The issues that I have outlined above are all complex. When you are emotionally invested in a relationship it can be difficult to step outside of the relationship and view it from an objective perspective.
I am here to support you to do this. My clients describe me as a kind, warm and empathic person, my aim is to offer you with or without your partner a safe, calm and relaxed space to explore and understand your relationship. Our sessions will help you to unlock and appreciate what it is that you both want from your relationship.
I am a fully qualified Relationship/Couples Therapist with many years of experience, working with couples and individuals in Private Practice and with Relate.
I offer couples counselling and psychosexual therapy via secure video conferencing to your home, office or even your car, as long as it is parked safely and the space is private. Working together online means you can have therapy anywhere that is comfortable and convenient for you even if you or you and your partner cannot be in the same space due to work/travel commitments. The only things you need are a private space, a good internet connection and a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone on which you can download Zoom.
I appreciate counselling is a big step, but I am open to discussing how I work and discovering if working with me will be a good fit.
You are welcome to book a 15 minute initial online video meeting/or telephone call so we can speak and see if the way that I work suits you. I look forward to your email or call.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
