About me

Hello, I am Joanne . Whatever reason you have found yourself here, you are very welcome.

I am a dual registered Clinician, I am a Qualified Integrative Psychotherapist (MSc) and a Mental Health Nurse (RMN) . I have worked in the NHS for over 20 years.

I understand you may feel apprehensive in approaching therapy. At times we can feel overwhelmed and struggle to find the answers as to why we feel the way we do. This is normal. Counselling can be an emotional and challenging process but be assured I will work alongside you. My aim is to offer you a calm and safe space for you to discuss your hopes and goals to plan for our joint work together. We can review at any point. We are all unique and sessions are individual to you.

I draw on the methods and perspectives from a number of different schools of counselling and psychotherapy - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy and Attachment Theories.

Counselling is appropriate for a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, eating issues, self-esteem, trauma and PTSD. I have a special interest in ADHD/Autism, PDA and RSD, Attachment work and trauma informed care. I work with anyone from the age of 14+ years

Through my work as a Mental Health Nurse, I also work with clients with Borderline Personality Disorders, Emotionally unstable personality disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and Psychosis.

If you do feel ready to reach out, please do not hesitate to contact me,  I am here to support you to be heard without judgement.

Kindest regards

Joanne

My private practice is in the UNESCO World Heritage site in Cromford Mills, Derbyshire.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
