Dip. Couns, MBACP (Reg) | Online and Telephone Counselling

About me

Counselling adults online and by telephone in Stanford le Hope, Corringham, Thurrock, Essex, South East England and across the UK.

Welcome! I’m a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, specialising in counselling for people who feel disconnected from themselves, stuck or no longer recognise who they are.

If you’re feeling like you’ve lost your sense of self, confidence, or direction, you’re not alone - through counselling, I help individuals reconnect with who they truly are, break free from unhelpful patterns, and become a version of themselves that feels authentic, empowered, and whole again.

If you're weighed down by anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, or the impact of past experiences, it's normal to feel stuck in patterns that don’t shift. Relationships can feel challenging, family dynamics frustrating, or grief and loss overwhelming.

You may have a clear idea of what you want to change, or you might just sense that something doesn’t feel quite right and want to feel more like yourself again.

Together, we’ll explore what’s important to you, uncover what’s holding you back, and start assembling the pieces of the puzzle so you can see a clearer picture of yourself and your life.

I draw upon person-centred, pluralistic, and somatic therapy techniques, tailoring sessions to you and your needs at a pace that feels right for you. This means I will interact with you alongside listening, helping you understand yourself, discover tools to help you move forward, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

You don’t have to navigate this alone - if you’d like my support, please get in touch to arrange an initial session or an introductory call to explore in more detail how I can help.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training & Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy
  • Program on living with Chronic Pain & Fatigue
  • Healing Days Workshops (with Gabor Maté, author of 'When the body says no' and Bessel van der Kolk, author of 'The body keeps the score')

Lived Experience:

I’ve experienced various challenges in life - childhood trauma, loss through suicide, separation, chronic illness, pain, fatigue, and the ups and downs of menopause. These experiences have given me a real understanding of how exhausting, confusing, and sometimes overwhelming life can feel.

For a long time, I struggled with anxiety, low confidence, and trying to please everyone else while not really knowing or expressing what I needed. On top of that, my body often felt tired and unwell, even when tests said nothing was wrong. I know what it’s like to feel dismissed, frustrated, or like you’re letting those you love down because you don’t have the energy you wish you did, nor the words or perhaps the courage to ask for what would help.

Over time, I’ve learned how stress and trauma - both the things we're aware of and the things we're not - can affect the body and mind, keeping us in survival mode and making it hard to truly rest, recover, or feel like ourselves. I’ve also worked through grief, guilt, anger, and feelings of not being enough after losing a family member to suicide.

These experiences don’t define my work, but they do help me empathise with what life can throw at us. They’ve shaped the way I understand anxiety, relationships, self-worth, pain and energy - and they help me support others in finding their own ways to cope, heal, and reconnect with themselves.

Work Experience:

Until December 2022, I worked in residential care with people over 65, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by those living with Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, as well as supporting their families. I also understand first-hand the pressures faced by people working in the care sector, who can often find it difficult to recognise or prioritise their own needs.

I've volunteered with my local mental health charity (Thurrock & Brentwood Mind) supporting clients with a wide range of mental health issues which helped me form a flexible, client-focused way of working that aims to improve emotional wellbeing, self-understanding and quality of life.

Sessions with me are always centred on you as the client. You set the pace and decide what feels important to focus on. What works for one person may not work for another, which is why I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, we work together to discover what will be most significant and helpful for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Counselling sessions are £55 each during weekday daytime hours, and £70 for evening or weekend appointments. I also offer a limited number of concessionary slots to make counselling more affordable, regardless of budget. These can be in demand, so I may hold a short waiting list at times. We can talk through your personal requirements when you first enquire.

I work with clients across the UK via online and telephone counselling, offering flexible appointments that can fit around your work, family, or other commitments. I provide short-term therapy (for an agreed number of sessions), ad-hoc support when needed, or open-ended therapy if you’d like longer-term support.

If you are interested in working together, I offer a complimentary 10–15 minute introductory call. This gives you a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a feel for how I work. It’s also an opportunity to ease some of the natural anxiety that can come with starting therapy and to help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you.
