About me

Counselling can be a difficult step to take. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, loss, a major life change, or simply a sense that something no longer feels right.

I offer a warm, thoughtful and confidential space where you can take time to explore what is happening for you, without needing to arrive with everything worked out.

My approach is Person-Centred and humanistic. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience and that the therapeutic relationship is an important part of the work. Rather than following a fixed process, we can begin with what matters to you and allow our work to develop from there.

Sessions are available online throughout the UK or face-to-face in Shropshire. I offer weekly or fortnightly appointments and can work with you for a shorter or longer period, depending on what is helpful.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. My aim is to meet you with openness, respect and without assumptions, creating space for you to explore your experiences at your own pace.

If you are considering counselling but are unsure whether it is right for you, I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and see whether we feel we might work well together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
