About me

During our sessions together we can explore a range of things, including your thoughts, feelings, emotions, or situations you may be finding difficult to navigate. I am here to walk alongside you as your journey unfolds. I will tailor our sessions, drawing on a range of techniques to suit you. Essentially it is talking therapy but can include more creative approaches if you are more comfortable with that such as, working with buttons, stones, visual aids, worksheets, calming techniques and mindfulness.

The therapy I offer, draws upon both my life experiences and my professional skills as a counsellor. This combination allows me to bring a unique perspective and depth to the support I can provide, which I believe ensures a well-rounded approach to my client care. I offer a friendly, supportive, and confidential service. My aim is to provide a non-judgemental environment, to allow you to safely and confidentially explore your concerns, through a variety of approaches.

I offer both short-term and long-term sessions to children, young people, adults and older adults.

Sessions can be face-to-face, telephone and online.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon a range of therapeutic methods to support my clients. This enables me to tailor my work more specifically to your needs.  My foundation is built on a person-centred perspective, which means I believe that each individual is the expert on themselves.

I offer one-to-one sessions for children, young people, adults and older adults. I offer a non-judgemental, welcoming safe space where you can talk confidentially.

I have experience working with a wide range of presenting concerns, including but not limited to: anxiety, bereavement, depression, identity issues, post-traumatic stress, relationships, self-esteem, and work-related issues.

My qualifications include:

  • BA(Hons) Combined Studies: Social Sciences – Social Psychology, Sociology and Economy and Society
  • Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling working with Adults and Young People
  • NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills
  • NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am currently available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Evening and Saturday morning appointments also offered. Please feel free to contact me to arrange an initial consultation and to confirm my availability. I can be contacted on 07566278510 and jbcounsellingservices1@outlook.com

For the initial session, I offer a short introductory telephone call. This will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your hopes, needs and goals for therapy, as well as to ask any questions about the counselling process. This will help you to decide if I am the right fit for your therapeutic journey.

Following this call, I will send you a copy of the client agreement. This further outlines the details of the therapeutic relationship. During our first counselling session we will look at this together to ensure you are comfortable with the agreement.
