About me
I appreciate it can be daunting to come and see a counsellor, that is why I am passionate about providing a safe non-judgemental space where you have the freedom to share and explore what life’s events may bring up for you.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor based in Stockport, I work with a person-centred approach, with additional models of Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I very much believe that counselling should be a collaborative process, where we can work together to find out what the best approach is for you and that counselling is based around your individual needs.
I offer an initial free twenty-minute introductory call, so we can see if we are a good fit, and that I am the right counsellor for you, if not, I am happy to make the relevant referrals for you.
My experience covers a range of topics, I have supported people with Abuse, Domestic violence, Post natal depression, grief, anxiety and depression. I currently work for the Mental health charity MIND and this has given me great experience and a good understanding of neuro diversity and mental health conditions.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 15 years working in the corporate field, this has given me a wide range of experience with stress, anxiety and the pressures that can come with working in a high-pressured environment. I understand how the pressures of work can become overwhelming and how theses stresses can spill over into the rest of our lives.
Another area I have had experience in is grief, through my training and own experiences I have learnt that grief is personal, and we all deal with it differently. There is no right or wrong way to deal with grief, and sometimes it can be hard for the people around us to understand the why that we are feeling what we are. Counselling can come in here to help provide a safe space to explore what is going on for you.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their ethical framework. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate which is renewed annually.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
