About me

I'm Jhonathan, a UKCP-registered Family & Systemic Psychotherapist passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges and create more fulfilling relationships. My approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, fostering a safe and collaborative space for exploration and growth.

At the heart of my practice is joining with individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds & identities, to create a safe therapeutic space where new possibilities emerge. My collaborative and relational focused approach empowers you to lead your own journeys of discovery and change, as we navigate challenges like trust, communication, cultural differences, identity, sexuality and life transitions.

Training, qualifications & experience

My extensive experience in social care and social work, spanning over four decades, has profoundly shaped my therapeutic approach. I hold an MSc in Family Therapy from King's College London and am a registered member of the Association of Family Therapy (AFT). My commitment to ongoing professional development includes training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, membership in ICEEFT, and integrating Appreciative Inquiry into my practice. I also hold a BA Hons in Sociology and Social Work, a Diploma in Management, an MA in Management, and a vocational childcare qualification (NNEB), all of which inform my therapeutic work.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
