About me

My name is Jessie, my pronouns are she/her and I live in London. I grew up internationally, mainly in South Asia and I have mixed heritage. I have supported vulnerable adults and children for over 10 years using a variety of evidence based somatic approaches to support nervous system regulation. This can be especially useful for anxiety, hyperactivity, addictive behaviours, trauma responses and other forms of emotional dysregulation.

I also offer 1:1 talking therapy in person and remotely. As a counsellor, I have supported adults from 18 + in person and online who are struggling with:

  • Anxiety (and Generalised Anxiety Disorder)
  • Low Self Confidence
  • Aspects of neurodiversity (including ADHD and Autism)
  • Relationship challenges (intimate and family relationships)
  • Depression
  • Childhood trauma and abuse
  • Bipolar
  • Feeling stuck, burnt out or overwhelmed
  • Processing grief or loss
  • Exploring sexual identity and gender expression
  • Self exploration
  • Spiritual development

And more...

As a psychosynthesis counsellor my approach is transpersonal, relational and integrative. It is a form of talking therapy and can be as creative as the process requires. This may include, for example, grounding meditations, active imagination and techniques to help you connect to your mind, body and feelings.

Regardless of your presenting issue, it's about treating who you are as a person and finding out what is most supportive for you and your mental health.

It can be helpful to have a short discovery call or an initial assessment to work out whether we feel like a good fit. After that, we can decide whether to continue having sessions regularly and decide on a weekly slot to meet.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a qualified counselling psychotherapist registered with The BACP and my qualifications include:

  • BSc in Psychology & Sociology
  • MA in Psychoanalytic Studies
  • PGDip with The Psychosynthesis Trust
  • Neurodevelopmental and Auditory Practitioner, Blomberg Rythmic Movement Therapy and Yoga Teacher Training Certificates

For the last 7 years, I have also been working full time as a neurodevelopmental and auditory practitioner with children and adults with neurodiversity, academic, emotional and behavioural challenges. I’ve taught yoga for 13 years as well as hosting women’s circles and retreats. Prior to this, I was a social carer for many years and worked with with vulnerable children and adults who had a range of complex mental health difficulties and physical disabilities.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Step 1: Optional discovery call (15 minutes - free of charge)

I offer a 15 minute conversation over the phone. This can be helpful if you are unsure about any aspect of the process or would prefer to speak before booking an initial assessment.

Step 2: Initial Assessment (50 x minutes - £65 - £80)

This session can be held online or in person at The West London Buddhist Centre. It is about understanding what’s bringing you here, what you’d like to change and whether we feel like it is appropriate to work together. I will send you a pre-assessment form before this session which is optional to complete. This can be useful in case you would prefer to spend less time responding to my questions in the initial assessment and more time on what you need.

Step 3: Weekly Sessions (50 x minutes at the same time each week - £65 - £80 for online and in person sessions).

Availability: I currently have availability on Thursday's from 8am - 8pm.

I work long term so there is no set amount of time that this process needs to last. Therapy is a commitment to yourself so, in order to for it to be effective, it has to be consistent. We will have reviews throughout the process to check in around your needs, how you are finding the process and how long you would like it to last.

Summary

£65 - £80 per 50-minute session (both online and in person)

Payment via bank transfer before the session or by 5pm on the day of the session

I require 7 days notice for free cancellations.
