About me

Welcome

There are lots of reasons someone might think about therapy; maybe you’re navigating a tricky life event, wanting to understand yourself a bit better, or looking for support with anxiety, stress, or other emotional challenges. Even deciding to start therapy can feel like a journey in itself. And then there’s the next step: finding a therapist who feels like a good fit.

About Me

Alongside being a qualified counsellor, I’m also a trainee counselling psychologist and psychotherapist. I’m an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which basically means I’ve had the right training and experience to work safely and effectively with clients.

I take a holistic, integrative approach, which allows me to draw on different styles of therapy and adapt them to what feels most helpful for you. I enjoy working creatively alongside talking therapy, finding different ways to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences. At the heart of my work is creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can be honest about what’s going on and feel supported as you explore it. There's no pressure, no rush, just a place to be yourself.

I have experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, including different races, cultures, genders, sexualities, faiths or spiritualities, and neurodiversity. I know that identity can be complex and shaped by many influences. I aim to create a space where you can be seen as a whole person, with all your experiences acknowledged and valued, where you don’t have to leave any part of yourself at the door.

I also have a real interest in supporting mothers through some of the joys and challenges that come with parenting. This might include adjusting to life changes, managing emotions, or noticing what parenting can bring up from your own childhood. Therapy can be a space to slow down (breathe), reflect, and make sense of it all, both as a parent and as a person in your own right.

With over 10 years of experience working with adults, children, and young people, I see my role as walking alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and supporting you in working towards your goals in a way that feels right for you, at an appropriate pace.

Initial Consultation

Finding the right therapist can make a big difference in how therapy feels. An initial consultation is a chance for us to have a relaxed conversation about what’s brought you here, what you hope to get from therapy, and whether we feel like a good fit. I know the first meeting can feel a bit nerve-wracking, even for me! Once we’ve got past those first-meeting nerves, we can take some time to explore what sessions might look like, how they could work best for you, and what you’d like to focus on. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions along the way, so you can feel comfortable and confident before deciding to continue.

For parents and carers seeking support for your child, you’re welcome to be part of the initial consultation, for part of it, or all of it, whichever would help your child or young person feel most comfortable in a new environment with a new person. Alongside working with adults, I work with children experiencing exam stress, challenges in school, or general emotional difficulties, among others. Sessions might involve talking, drawing, or playing a game, depending on what feels most helpful for the child. These activities are all part of the therapeutic work and help us explore what has brought them to therapy in a way that feels safe, supportive, and tailored to them.

Sessions

Sessions are usually held weekly and last about 50 minutes. I offer:
• Face-to-face, online, or telephone sessions
• Short-term or longer-term therapy, depending on what works best for you

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
