About me

Hi there and welcome to Jenny Blain Counselling!

I am a fully qualified Humanistic Counsellor who works from two locations, the HolistiCentre at Broome park in Barham & my home office in central Canterbury.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and I abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practise.

I offer counselling for a variety of issues such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bereavement, long term illness, relationship issues, low self esteem, eating disorders, self-harm, bullying, exam & work stress, panic disorder & PTSD just to mention a few.

Specialisms include working with young people (11-18), individuals on the Autistic Spectrum & Multicultural / lingual counselling.

I am a Humanistic Counsellor and my counselling is mainly Person Centred which means that it is guided by you, not me and that the relationship we build together plays an important part in the counselling process. I use elements of several Humanistic approaches such as Transactional Analysis & Gestalt therapy but also Cognitive Behavioural therapy & Art therapy to suit each one of my client's individual needs and preferences.

I aim to be a warm, approachable & caring counsellor and I can offer you a safe, non judgmental place to talk and explore whatever it is that is troubling you.

Initially we would meet for a first session where we discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your expectations and I answer any questions you may have. This is an opportunity for me to explain how I work and for both of us to see if I am the right counsellor for you. Afterwards you can decide if you would like to come back and start counselling. If you prefer we can have a conversation over the phone before meeting for the first time. Please feel free to call or email me if you have questions about me or the service that are not listed in this profile. You can also visit my website for more detailed information.

I offer face to face counselling as well as telephone & Skype counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts
  • Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Counselling Skills
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

I have completed further training in Post traumatic stress disorder, Suicidal Ideation & Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I am currently studying towards a level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as well as completing training in Pregnancy & Infant Loss provided by The Foundation for Infant Loss training.

I am trilingual and I am able to offer counselling in English, French & Swedish.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
