Jenni Brown Reg MBACP
As a counsellor, my priority is to listen to you and comprehend your issues in a safe and confidential space. I know how important it is to feel able to speak honestly and freely within a suitable environment which is something I provide.
I work within an Integrative Model which means that I can employ a number of different interventions but I do not work from behind a wall of knowledge. Offering face to face counselling involves me being present with you for every minute of your hour session. Therefore it is essential that we understand each other.
I have basically outlined myself as a counsellor and my experience can be read but I think it's important to add a little about me, the person.
I have been described as a someone who brings calm to situations and as being easy to talk to about anything but I also consider that being down-to-earth and approachable are my other characteristics.
Having said the above, I strongly believe that as a client you have to be able to feel the connection with the counsellor, hence the importance of the free introductory session which I offer. This will give you the opportunity to meet me and establish whether you would like to commence the sessions.
In addition to being able to offer individual client sessions, I am also able to work with couples in a safe and structured method to enable both parties to talk and to be heard.
In accordance to the issue as presented by the client or couple, there will be six or twelve week sessions offered or the opportunity of long term counselling.
As a registered member of BACP, I adhere to the ethical framework in order to offer a safe and confidential environment in which to work.
The most important aspect is that I am a listener and my aim is to help you gain empowerment so that you can move positively forwards in your life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at Huntingdon Regional College and obtained the qualifications as shown below.
- Certificate in Couples Counselling Cambridgeshire
- BACP Certificate of Proficiency
- Motivational Therapeutic Interventions Level 4
- City and Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling
- Level 3 Skills and Theory for Counselling Young People PTUK.
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills NFCE
I was a volunteer counsellor for three organisations whilst training.
At Hinchingbrooke Hospital I counselled clients who had suffered miscarriages and the difficulties faced in the relationship after.
The second voluntary role in Nacro involved seeing clients who were aged from sixteen to adult who presented various issues.
The involvement with Mind enabled me to really build my experience in long term work with clients which enabled me to fully appreciate the client / counsellor relationship.
All three organisations helped me not only further my skills as a counsellor but to comprehend people and life.
Areas of counselling I deal with
