About me
I bring warmth, compassion and empathy to the therapy room, aiming to gently challenge and offer new perspectives whilst bringing a source of light in the darkness. With a particular interest in (but not limited to) working with neurodiversity (autism, ADHD), trauma, low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, intergenerational patterns, and gender transition/dysphoria.
Adopting a trauma sensitive psychodynamic & psychoanalytical approach, where we can focus on both past and present experiences. This could be by using attachment theory, noticing repeating relational patterns or cycles of conflict, and thinking collaboratively about how you might begin to break free from these.
About my service
I provide a client-led, non-judgemental, safe and contained space to help you to process difficult life experiences and to better understand your emotional landscape. We can use creative expression, art making, metaphors, play, psychoeducation, and conversation to work through present challenges and current fears whilst also nurturing hopes for the future. I hold a welcoming space for clients from all backgrounds, where culture, identity and difference can be explored.
Art therapy can help you to articulate & process traumatic experiences, to hold and contain some of the unspoken pain. Together we can share curiosity about what emerges in the imagery, how it felt connecting to the materials, and to think about what it might be telling us about your life experiences & sense of self.
What next?
I offer a free, no obligation, 15 minute phone call for you to ask questions about how I work and to see if we would be a good fit. Long or short term therapeutic work is offered either in person or online. Please send me a message to discuss what you are looking for.
Training, qualifications & experience
Since qualifying as an Art Psychotherapist (MA, HCPC, BAAT), alongside private practice, I have worked therapeutically with both adolescents and primary aged children in schools, in a CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) outpatient setting, and with adults in a mental health charity.
Prior to this, I completed a degree in illustration before gaining extensive experience supporting children on the autistic spectrum in education. This led me to begin to facilitate creative wellbeing workshops within the charity sector, working with service users with brain injuries and with those who were accessing homeless support services.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
