About me

I offer counselling & expressive arts therapy from my home near Arundel, West Sussex.

If you’re suffering from low self esteem, low confidence, depression, anxiety, trauma, managing a mental illness,  or are going through a difficult period in your life, therapy can help.

During sessions with me you can explore your concerns confidentially. We will work together to help alleviate your current suffering. Therapy isn’t a magic pill to make all your problems go away, but it can make a considerable difference to how you deal with the challenges you are facing. It can free you from the negative cycles of overthinking, self blame, and emotional overwhelm,  leading you to a deeper understanding of yourself, and a happier, more balanced outlook.

In my work I draw on humanistic and transpersonal psychology, client centred therapy and my own intuition.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.A. in Arts Counselling, B.A in Creative Studies, Foundation Diploma in Art.

I've worked in psychiatric care with acute mental illness and trauma. I've also worked with the homeless, victims of abuse, substance abuse, neurodiversity, grief and complex trauma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

In expressive arts therapy, paint, chalk pastels, clay, textiles, and other art materials are used to express emotions without having to rely on words alone. No previous experience in art is required as the work is about processing emotions rather than producing art works for display.

Counselling, or talking therapy, uses verbal communication to express what is troubling the client in a trusting, and confidential dialogue with the therapist.

Neither forms of therapy are more effective than the other, and it’s a matter of what feels right to you. Every person is unique and is supported in using the modes of self expression that suit them best.

I’m non-judgemental, mature, compassionate and curious.

I live in a rural area and practice from a quiet room in my home, in person and online.
