About me
Life can feel heavy, confusing and lonely at times and we don’t always have the space to process what we’re going through.
You don’t have to process it alone.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety or depression, navigating loss, living with past trauma that continues to affect you, or facing difficult life transitions, therapy can be a space for you to step away from the roles you play in others’ lives, take the mask off, breathe and share what is going on for you.
Many of the men I work with initially felt unsure about therapy or found it difficult to talk about what they were going through. Therapy offers a space where those conversations can begin at your own pace.
I work with adults and young people, and I have particular experience supporting men navigating complex life experiences, including those affected by trauma, loss, or contact with the criminal justice system.
I bring over 15 years’ experience supporting young people and adults across community, educational and criminal justice settings.
About Me
Hi, I’m Janine, a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist offering short- and long-term therapy.
Alongside my psychotherapy training and professional qualifications, I bring over 15 years’ experience supporting young people and adults across community, educational and criminal justice settings in London and surrounding areas.
My work has included supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, bereavement and grief, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I have also spent many years working with young men navigating gang-related influences and the wider pressures surrounding them, individuals affected by violence, and people who have had contact with the criminal justice system.
Through this work I have developed a deep understanding of the impact that difficult life experiences, trauma, and social pressures can have on our emotional wellbeing.
I aim to offer a calm, non-judgemental and supportive space where you can feel seen, heard and held.
Seeking therapy can feel like a big step. Even when we know we might benefit from slowing down and speaking to someone, reaching out can feel daunting. If you’re reading this now, you’ve already taken an important first step.
Areas I Commonly Support With
I work with people experiencing a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and low mood
- Trauma and difficult past experiences
- Bereavement, grief and loss
- Life transitions and feeling stuck
- Identity and personal development
- Race and cultural identity issues
- Gang environments and their impact
- Experiences related to the criminal justice system
Work with young people can include navigating friendships, family dynamics, the transition to adulthood, serious youth violence, and substance misuse.
Work with men can include men’s mental health, navigating familial and societal expectations, and challenges around emotional expression, anger, shame and guilt.
How I Work
I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches to support you as an individual. These include:
- Person-centred therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Psychodynamic thinking
While I bring professional training, knowledge and experience to our work, I also believe that you are the expert in your own life. Therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your experiences with curiosity, compassion and care.
Although therapy can involve working through difficult emotions, there will always be space in my therapy process for humour, and creative expression if it feels appropriate for the client, no matter the age.
Next Steps
If you are considering therapy with me, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives us the opportunity to briefly talk about what is bringing you to therapy and to see whether the space I offer feels right for you.
Whenever you feel ready, I will be here with a listening ear and a supportive space. You don’t need to have everything figured out - just come as you are.

Qualifications & Experience
MA Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, University of Roehampton, London.
BSc Psychology (Hons), University of Roehampton, London.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
