About me

Life can sometimes be tough. We all need someone to support us through difficult times. You might be struggling with anxiety or depression, perhaps you are experiencing challenging family dynamics, or struggling with caring for a loved one. You may be finding life overwhelming at the moment and be unsure of how to move forward. Perhaps you have experienced loss or are struggling with differing emotions. Maybe you are feeling very alone, and is as if you have nobody to turn to for support.

I work in a humanistic way, which means that I believe you are the expert on yourself. I will not tell you what to do as I believe that you know what is best for you. Instead, I can offer you a calm, accepting space, in which I can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, without fear of judgement. Together we can work collaboratively to identify themes and patterns in your life. This can help you work out what you need to move forward you’re your life. Sometimes the deepest challenges can, ultimately, lead to the greatest growth.

I have worked with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, work stress, relationship issues, grief and neurodiversity. I have a particular interest in autism and have undergone additional training in this area, in order to best support autistic clients. In addition to this, I am a parent to two neurodivergent young people and have lived experience of of the challenges of living in a neurotypical world. I also have lived experience of the challenges arising from trying to navigate complex systems in order to get support. I draw upon this lived experience when supporting clients, whilst also acknowledging that everyone’s experiences are different.

I offer a free, no obligation, 15-minute introductory Zoom or telephone call to help us decide if we are the right fit as counsellor and client. This also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor and also have a degree in psychology. I am a creative person and sometimes use creative techniques in my counselling sessions.

I hold professional indemnity insurance. I have regular supervision to ensure that I am working safely and ethically.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
