About me

Hi and thank you for stopping by.

My name is Jana Hanchard and I am a HCPC registered Psychologist based in London and the Milton Keynes areas. Having worked in mental health in both the NHS and private sector for over 20 years, I understand that at times life can be very demanding, and having a little support from time to time can be a much needed lifeline. It is my aim to provide a safe space to help you explore and understand some of life’s difficulties, learn helpful coping techniques and improve mood and functioning.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych) and currently work as a Counselling Psychologist in adult mental health care. I am also a qualified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and EMDR therapist.

I have experience of working with birth-related traumas, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, phobias, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, postnatal and general adjustment disorders.

My approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with an emphasis on person-centred practice.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
