About me

I see clients in London (SW7 & SW5), Tunbridge Wells and online.

I am a therapist, coach and wellbeing consultant.

My friends joke that I wear many “hats” which is true I do and I am very grateful I get the opportunity to do so.

I am an addiction, eating disorder and compulsive behaviour specialist. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS accred), an advanced member of Addiction Professionals registration body, a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, a member of the International Stress Management Association (MISMA) and the Complex Trauma Institute.

I work with individuals on a number of issues such as Alcoholism, drug addiction, sex addiction & compulsive sexual behaviour, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, codependence and gambling to name a few.

I also work with:

Anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, trauma, PTSD & CPTSD, self Harm, low self esteem, low self confidence, loneliness, burnout, stress, stress management & stress prevention, ADHD, personality disorders (BPD), relationships and couples counselling.

I offer a range of services from 1:1 and group counselling/coaching sessions to workshops and wellbeing awareness sessions in both private and corporate settings.

I trained at Richmond College as an integrative therapist and the National Centre for Eating Disorders as a Master Practitioner. I am strongly informed by 12 step philosophy and I help clients to look after their mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health to thrive in life. I describe myself as a pluralistic therapist using a number of different therapeutic models to best suit each client’s needs in an integrative manner such as ACT, CBT, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis & inner child work, Person Centred, Humanistic, Motivational interviewing and positive psychology to name a few. The work I do means I work on my own as well as being part of a team which I thoroughly enjoy!

Since 2017 I have drawn on my own personal and professional experience to support those I work with. I have a holistic view of mental health and wellbeing. I work with clients on the issues they present with as well explore their mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health as a whole. I work collaboratively with my clients using both counselling and coaching skills to help promote positive, lasting change.

As well as my private practice I work with:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

“Absolutely love your sessions!” Dale H.

“James you’ve been amazing - so grateful to you. Many many many thanks!” R.

“I'd like to pass on our thanks to you and congratulate you on helping our daughter in such a marvellous fashion.........When I think back to those dark days in February and dwell on her then - there is an enormous contrast between then and now. Our daughter has come back to life and did fantastically on Saturday when she was taking a young girl around Tate Britain chatting to her about art.... (which she was terrified about).” M&D.
