About me

Hi, I am James and I am a Counsellor/Therapist working across Northumberland, Newcastle, Gosforth and Sunderland providing effective support for issues including Stress, Anxiety, Low Self Esteem, Grief and many others listed in my profile . I provide cost effective counselling options tailored to what you earn rather than a fixed rate for all, with faster than average response times, meaning I can support you when you need it the most.  I work with clients of all ages and provide online and face to face sessions with the added ability to provide evening and weekend availability so you can be confident that I have options that fit into your daily life.

Clients regularly tell me what they picture before coming to counselling rarely matches with what they experience and with me you can be sure of a relaxed, warm and open-minded individual ready to support you every step of the way through whatever the issue may be. (No sofa's or notepads will be seen in sessions!!!)

Feel free to book a no obligation all with me and lets get you to where you really want to be in regards to your mental health.

Training, qualifications & experience

Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 (Foundation Degree) were all completed face to face through Sunderland University and achieved with merit.

Additional training in Art Therapy, Play Therapy and Creative Therapy completed ad-hoc as part of clinical placement where I worked with 5-11 year old pupils in Primary Schools and supported clients through loss, grief, anxiety and PTSD.

Regular training and development are undertaken through regular clinical supervision and a peer support group of counsellors and therapists who regularly meet to discuss development objectives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
