About me

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, relationships, grief, work, self-esteem, or a change in your life. You might also just feel stuck, or know that something isn't right without being able to explain exactly what it is.

You don't need to know what you want to talk about before you start therapy, and you don't need to have everything worked out beforehand.

My approach is person-centred, which means I won't tell you what decisions to make or try to fit you into a particular way of thinking. We'll spend time understanding what's happening for you, what's led to it, and what might help things feel different.

I tend to work in a warm but straightforward way. I listen carefully, but I'll also ask questions, check my understanding, and raise things I notice when I think they might be useful.

I work with a number of neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients, and aim to make therapy somewhere you don't have to explain or hide who you are.

For neurodivergent clients, this might mean talking about masking, burnout, overwhelm, relationships, work, identity, or simply how exhausting it can be trying to meet expectations that don't always fit you. You don't need a formal diagnosis to talk about these things.

Similarly, being LGBTQ+ may be central to why you're coming to therapy, or it may have very little to do with it. I don't assume either way.

I'm also happy to adapt how we work where needed. Some people prefer clearer questions, more structure, direction, or more time to think. Others prefer a more open conversation. We can work out what suits you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within the BACP Ethical Framework.

My main counselling qualification is the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, with my training primarily based around person-centred therapy and pluralistic therapy.

I have been working with clients since 2023, initially within an employee assistance program and later through my own private practice.

My experience includes working with anxiety, depression and low mood, stress, burnout, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, identity, work-related difficulties and major life changes.

I also regularly work with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients.

Alongside my main counselling training, I continue to undertake regular professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

  •  I work with adults aged 18 and over.
  • I offer both face-to-face and online counselling.
  • Sessions last 60 minutes and cost £45.

Before booking, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives you the chance to ask any questions, tell me briefly what you are looking for, and see whether you feel comfortable talking with me.

There is no obligation to book afterwards.

I don’t require clients to commit to a fixed number of sessions. Some people come for a relatively short period, and others find longer-term therapy more useful. We can review how things are going as we work together.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is suitable for what you are dealing with, you’re welcome to get in touch.
