About me

Welcome. I offer you compassion and empathy in a space where you can be your real self. I offer face-to-face appointments and also provide online therapy throughout the United Kingdom.  I understand that the first steps can be difficult and daunting. Things will get easier in time, and we can work together to help you heal.

I am a person-centred counsellor, although I use other techniques, which is more appropriate for you. I offer a confidential safe space. We can work in several ways: in person, by telephone, and via online platforms for your added convenience.

Life can offer many challenges. This includes dealing with loss (end of relationships/ bereavements/ loss of a job), trauma or dealing with daily stresses. This can result in anxiety, depression and leave you feeling confused and scared.  During your counselling, we can work together to find a way through the fog in a safe, welcoming, confidential setting.

All therapy is confidential, and I will work with you to help you achieve the therapeutic change you desire.

I have a range of experience working with adults (including older adults), children, and young people. I also specialise in supporting clients with a range of neurodivergences, including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, and ADHD. I have worked across a range of educational roles, as well as in mental health and counselling services, and believe in supporting clients holistically.

Concessions are offered for trainee counsellors, students and low-income individuals.

Training, qualifications & experience

I originally qualified in Person-Centred Counselling, but have trained in trauma and grief as a specialism. I  have worked within a range of settings. These include schools, College settings, a charity, and a counselling service. I have experience in supporting clients with diverse needs, including neurodivergence: ADHD and autism. I have supported clients through a range of issues such as bereavement and loss- including loss of an animal, relationship breakdown, impact of divorce and the end of a marriage, as well as supporting them through transitions in life such as children leaving home, loss of a role or job. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

How Therapy can help you:

  • Grief and loss- the loss of a loved one can leave you feeling shocked and lost. This can lead to depression and anxiety as well as a disconnection from the present. Our therapy would help you to explore and process feelings which can be overwhelming and lonely. I am here to support you. This is a special interest of mine and I have studied additional qualifications in this area.
  • Relationships ending or changing- this can be difficult to adjust to. It might be a grown up child leaving home, this is a loss in itself and can be hard to adjust to. Therapy allows you to process your emotions to increase understanding, this can lead to increased self-awareness. It can also help to find a new beginning to feel self-empowered.
  • Young people- I have been working with young people for more than 28 years and I provide a safe space to explore their world. This could be a stressful time such as exam period or a bereavement. It can be coping with the pressures they are exposed to such as from relationships with family, friends and peers at school, college and university. Understanding how you feel can help you to process and work through emotions. I also support depression, anxiety and self-harm in young people.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Access counselling from the comfort of your own home through online therapy or over the phone. This gives you greater flexibility and convenience. If you prefer face-to-face, I offer a downstairs room that is wheelchair- and limited mobility-accessible.
